Dame Pauline Tallen, the Minister of Women Affairs, says the country will quickly move to the next level with the involvement of more women in politics.
Tallen said this on Wednesday in Akure, when she paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State ahead of the 19th National Council of Women Affairs and Social Development conference scheduled to hold on Oct. 31 in the state.
She said the meeting was to discuss matters that affect women, children, the elderly and the country at large.
“I believe that at the end of the meeting, tangible solutions to issue affecting the role of women in government and society will be reached.’’
She, therefore, called on governments at all levels to involve them in their cabinets.
Tallen thanked the Ondo State government for hosting the 19th edition of the conference.
Akeredolu, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Agboola Ajayi, said the state government was offering its maximum support to advocate for the well being in the society.
Akeredolu assured of the state government’s maximum support to foster gender equality and protection of the girl child.
`The government is doing a lot to ensure that the rights of children and the physically challenged people were not abused.’’
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the National Council of Women Affairs and Social Development holds its conference annually.
This year’s event has as its theme: ”Gender Equality and Social Inclusion: A Panacea for Peace Security and Sustainable Development in Nigeria”.
