To show their support for the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, more than 150 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) are willing to represent him in court tomorrow for his trial. The CJN was earlier arraigned in court by the Code of Conduct Bureau on a six-count charge of corruption and failure to declare his assets.
He is said to have been operating domiciliary foreign currency accounts without the bureau’s knowledge as required by the constitution.
The reports of the number of SANs that would be representing the CJN was revealed after Sebastine Hon, SAN spoke with Daily Trust over a telephone conversation. He claimed that Senior Advocates that have already volunteered to support Onnoghen at the Tribunal tomorrow are about 150. The constitutional lawyer also said that the number could increase before then.
