More Reactions Trail Buhari’s Ministerial List

4 Min Read

Nigerians have continued to react to the ministerial list submitted to Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki on deadline day, Wednesday September 30, by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government.

According to The Cable, former Governors Rotimi Amaechi and Babatunde Fashola, of Rivers and Lagos states respectively, top the 21-man list of the first batch of names sent to the upper Chamber for approval.

The list also allegedly includes other prominent names like Lai Mohammed, Kayode Fayemi, Chris Ngige, Abdulrahman Dambazau, Ogbonnaya Onu and Aisha Alhassan, among others.

This is coming at a point many Nigerians believe that some of these individuals have integrity issues, bordering on corruption allegations, around their necks which they are yet to convincingly explain.

This is especially so as President Buhari prides himself on his anti-corruption posture, a stance that made most Nigerians vote him into power in the April general elections.

The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, called on President Buhari to investigate allegations of corruption against Amaechi, who is purportedly on his ministerial list.

Secondus , who is from the same state (Rivers) as Amaechi, said:  “Buhari should look inwards and go after APC members especially Amaechi, whose issues has been raised when he was governor. The EFCC is yet to arrest Amaechi, what are they waiting for?”

There is equally the allegation that Fashola used N78 million to build a website while he was governor of Lagos state, an allegation many are not convinced have been adequately explained despite his rebuttal.

Nigerians, who took to social media platforms to express their views on #theList, have these to say:

It took Buhari 4 months to come up with comprising Amaechi, Fashola & Ngige – The most credible & incorruptible folks available?

Corrupt APC officials made the ; Fashola, Amaechi, Amina Alhassan etc. PMB should define ‘corruption’ for us.

Fashola, Amaechi, Ngige, Onu, Lai Mohammed make of Buhari’s “Noisemakers” Should I cry or laugh.

Here is the confirmed insight into ..Angel Gabriel Fashola, Prophet Zius Amaechi, Sheik Rabiu Musa RMK. After thorough exorcising.

Amaechi and Fashola make according to a report. We are really fighting corruption in Nigeria.

I’ve seen a shadow of . Amaechi. Oyinlola. Danjuma in. Raji Fashola & Pat Utomi are the only names that excite me, though.

Olusegun Adeniyi reinforces what I felt after seeing the names on the list.
With all the razzmatazz, secrecy and delay about the
ministerial list, it was very disappointing to see that it was peopled primarily by politicians with little or no technocrats. I Know this is just the first batch but it’s quite disappointing. The sole non politician on the list was Jonathan’s ex MDG’s adviser Amina Mohammed who is now with the UN. Fashola will be a good fit in whatever role he occupies and maybe Fayemi.
Can’t say much about the rest
