Mompha Arrest: EFCC recovers wristwatch worth N20m(Video)

Recall that the Herald reported on Tuesday, that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have confirmed the arrest of Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha, on grounds of Money Laundering charges.

In the cause of Mompha’s arrest, theCable reports that wristwatches worth N20 million were recovered from him by EFCC.

In a statement made to newsmen, the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said “Mustapha allegedly perpetrates his fraudulent activities under the cover of being a Bureau de Change operator, to launder his proceeds of crime.”

Mompha who is a self-acclaimed Bureau De Change Businessman known to flaunt his flamboyant lifestyle on Instagram was arrested last night by International Police, InterPol.  He has since been handed over to the EFCC for thorough investigation.

Wilson Uwajuren, the Spokesperson of the EFCC made this disclosure while speaking to newsmen of the Premium Times. He confirmed that Ismaila was indeed in the custody of the Anti-graft’s agency. However, when asked to give details on the cause of Mompha’s arrest, Uwajuren declined.

Mompha who has been evading arrest for a long time was finally caught by the coordinated efforts of the International Police, InterPol and the EFCC.

Mompha has been known for flaunting wads of American dollars on his Instagram account. Recently, the Instagram Slay King posted a picture of his newly acquired exotic rides, a yellow Ferrari and a 2020 Rolls Royce Wraith Eagle VIII which cost about N180 million
