Naira Marley and Mohbad

A petition seeking to ban musician Naira Marley and his record label, Marlian Music, over bullying of late musician, Ilerioluwa Promise Aloba aka Mohbad, has surpassed 240,000 signatures, The Herald can report.

The petition was started by a popular blog, Gistlovers.

Recall that Mohbad died on Tuesday and was buried the next day in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.

Photos and videos of the musician being harassed and assaulted by members of Marlian Music family and Naira Marley’s associate, Sam Larry, have surfaced on the internet, with many Nigerians demanding a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s demise.

On Saturday, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa ordered a full-scale investigation into the musician’s death.

In Friday’s petition, Gistlovers Blog called for a ban of  Marlian Music, saying “it is a drug syndicate disguising as a record label”.

“They recruit young boys to peddle drugs as well as indulge in drug related activities,” the petitioner claimed.

A check by The Herald at 8:30 am on Sunday, September 17, showed that the petition had garnered  24o,100 signatures, 45,894 of which occurred today.

The petition has a goal of 300,000 signatures.
