Information just filtering in confirms that President Muhammadu Buhari has withdrawn the name of former Deputy Governor of Niger State, Ahmed Musa Ibeto from the ministerial list sent to the Senate for screening.
It will be recalled that Ibeto’s name had made the first batch of names sent to President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki on September 30, alongside 20 others including Rotimi Amaechi, Babatunde Fashola, Audu Ogbeh, Ogbonnaya Onu, among others.
Ibeto was a former member of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007.
He reportedly fell out with his boss, immediate past governor of Nigeria State, Babangida Aliyu, after he decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
He was said to have been instrumental to APC’s success in Niger State at the last general elections in his state.
The withdrawal was confirmed by Dr. Saraki, who read the letter from President Buhari confirmation the decision, on the floor of the Upper Chamber at 11.17am.
The reason behind the withdrawal could not be immediately ascertained as at press time.
