Adamu Adamu, the honorable Minister of Education, has disclosed that ASUU strike, which is already in its fourth month, may be called off today.
Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities have closed down government-owned Tertiary Institutions in the country since 5th of November, 2018 after they claimed that the Federal government had refused to honor their agreements of better funding for Nigerian Universities.
Since then, there has been quite a lot of back and forth and no headway was made until yesterday’s meeting.
The minister later addressed a press conference in Abuja yesterday where he mentioned that the two parties have reached an agreement and academic activities in all schools would begin in the new week.
Adamu said, ”The strike will be called off from today (yesterday) or tomorrow (today) and certainly, there won’t be strike next week.” he said
