Nollywood actress and producer, Olamide Alawoya, popularly known as Mimisola Daniels, has reflected on her remarkable achievement with the movie “Surface,” which set a record on the YorubaNolly YouTube channel.
Mimisola Daniels, who initially made her mark in the industry as a producer with “Ewu,” recalled the significant milestone her movie “Surface” achieved when it became the first single-part Yoruba movie to reach 1 million views on YorubaNolly’s YouTube channel.
She elaborated on the remarkable success, saying, “It was on YouTube’s trending list for weeks, occupying the number 1 spot for more than 50 hours. It was a huge accomplishment for me and my team. When God is at work, protocols are suspended. I owe my fans a great debt of gratitude because they made it happen.”
Mimisola Daniels has an impressive filmography, with four movies under her belt, including “Ewu” (Risk), “Mother’s Wish,” “Remember Me” (Ranti Mi), and the record-breaking “Surface.”
Speaking about the inspiration behind “Surface,” she highlighted how the film addresses common issues in society. “The story addresses the normal issues happening in society. I realized that most women lose their bodies while pregnant, and husbands often don’t appreciate them for the sacrifice. So, I felt that I could pass the message to our men out there and help them understand that women do not choose to lose their sexuality or body shape, but they convinced us to,” she explained.
