Manager of Manchester United, Jose Mourinho has spoke on the defeat of the Super Eagles to Croatia saying that Nigerian coach Gernot Rohr made a bad choice playing Mikel Obi as a Number 10.
The former Chelsea manager who managed Mikel while he was at Chelsea said Rohr would have been better served playing Mikel as a Number 6 rather than as the man just behind the striker
Mourinho also said that he was a bad number 10. Mourinho was responsible for converting Mikel from an attacking Midfielder to a defensive one while he was at Chelsea.
Speaking as a World Cup pundit on the Russian TV station, RT, Mourinho said, referring to Mikel: “Nigeria lost a good No.6 to get a bad No.10.”
Mikel who played for Chelsea for over a decade winning 2 Premier League trophies and a Champions League was a defensive midfielder for the club while he played a more attacking position for Nigeria, something that Victor Moses does too.
The Eagles will face Iceland on Friday needing a win to keep hopes of qualification alive before a game against rivals Argentina.
