The two Nigerians in the Chelsea team have been named by interim manager, Rafael Benitez in the 24-man squad to Japan Mikel Obi and Victor Moses were on Thursday named as part of the 24-man Chelsea team that will take part in the FIFA Club World Cup, that kicks off in Japan on December 6.
The two Nigerians will have the chance to make history and become the first Nigerian winners of the tournament, though Nwankwo Kanu and Finidi George won with Ajax in 1995, when it was called the
Intercontinental Cup.
Chelsea are already through to the semi-final where they will face Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Auckland City FC or Al Ahly of Egypt on December 13 in Yokohama.
Obi has played 21 times for the Blues this season in all competitions with no goals while Moses has made 12 appearances with three goals.
The duo was left out of Chelsea’s last match against Fulham on Wednesday but could come back into the side in Saturday’s derby away to West Ham.
