Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has invited 18 overseas-based players for next month’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.
Emmanuel Emenike, Haruna Lukman and Joel Obi, previously ignored by Oliseh’s predecessor Stephen Keshi, were recalled by the new Nigeria head coach.
However, there is no room for Manchester City teenager Kelechi Iheanacho and the Chelsea pair, Mikel Obi and Victor Moses.
Captain Vincent Enyeama heads the list that also has defenders Godfrey Oboabona, Leon Balogun and Kenneth Omeruo, midfielder Rabiu Ibrahim, and forwards Ahmed Musa and Anthony Ujah.
There are a number of surprises, in line with Oliseh’s earlier pledge to make current form and first-level football key indices for selection.
There are goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, midfielder Izunna Uzochukwu and forwards Emem Eduok, Sylvester Igboun and Moses Simon.
All the 18 players, who will join up with the 23 home-based stars who arrived in camp in Abuja yesterday, are expected in Abuja next week, 31st August, 2015 at the latest.
