It seems the Gunners’ search for a new manager to take over from club legend Arsene Wenger with reports indicating that the job is going to Mikel Arteta.
The 36-year-old has been reported to have agreed in principle to become Arsenal’s new boss when the next season kicks off.
According to Goal, the announcement of the new manager will be made in a few days.
The Spaniard was an Arsenal player up until 2016 when he retired from playing and took up a role as the assistant manager to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Now after 2 years as the right-hand man to Pep, he is set to take the reins of one of the biggest clubs in world football.
Massimiliano Allegri and Luis Enrique were both considered but were deemed too expensive or unattainable and therefore it will be up to Arteta to take the Gunners back into the Champions League.
Arteta will have the likes of Sven Mislintat and Raul Sanllehi to help ease the burden and after a massive cull in the coaching staff at Arsenal, Arteta will be allowed to bring in some of his own backroom staff.
The former Gunner will most likely have a limited budget to work with, with reports suggesting that the North Londoners have a paltry 50 million Euro budget to work with.
