Happy Birthday to Mike Tyson who turns 54 years old today.
The iconic heavyweight legend was born June 30, 1966 and so was just a month old when England won the World Cup.
Tyson then went on to unify all three major belts at the time, becoming undisputed champion just two years later.
At this point the young phemon appeared invincible, but by 1990 he’d suffered a shock defeat to Buster Douglas and was then sent to prison for a rape conviction.
It wasn’t until 1996 that Tyson became a two-time title-holder, at which point it quickly became clear he was not the same ferocious force of his youth.
Losses to Evander Holyfield (twice), Lennox Lewis, Danny Williams and Kevin McBride followed.
The ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ retired in 2005, aged 38.
His boxing career appeared done and dusted for 15 years until the coronavirus pandemic hit this March.
Tyson then revealed he was weighing up a possible return for some charity exhibition bouts.
He’s since posted several explosive videos of himself back in training, showing he’s clearly not lost all speed and power at the age of 54.
