Metuh Granted Bail By Another Abuja Court

2 Min Read

The embattled spokesperson of the People’s Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, who is being tried on charges of trying to destroy evidence to be used against him has been granted yet another bail by Justice Ishaq Bello of Federal Capital Territory High Court on Friday.
It will be recalled that Metuh was arraigned in court Thursday on a two-count charge of attempting to destroy evidence to be used for his trial while he was in the custody of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He was alleged to have grabbed his witness statement from one of the investigators of the anti-graft agency and attempted to chew it.

The judge granted Metuh, who is also being tried for corruption and money laundering at another court, bail in the sum of N3 million and two sureties who must specify their profession.

Justice Bello ordered that Metuh should be taken back to Kuje prison, Abuja until he met his bail conditions.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary has remained in Kuje prison since he was granted bail by Justice Okon Abang before whom he is being tried on charges of corruption and money laundering.

Metuh, who was granted bail in the sum of N400 million with two sureties who must be owners of landed property of the same amount and must also submit three years tax clearance certificate, has remained in jail due to his inability to meet the conditions.
The trial of Metuh will begin at the two courts early next week.
