MENR predicts normal Rainfall in all Ekiti 16 LGAs in 2020

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MENR) in Ekiti on Wednesday released the prediction of near normal rainfall in all the 16 local government areas of the state in 2020.

According to a statement from the Office of the Commissioner, Mr Gbenga Agbeyo, local governments such as Efon, Ekiti West and Irepodun /Ifelodun, will have stable rainfall between April 5 and Nov. 24.

Agbeyo said that Ikere and Ise/Orun council areas would have their own stable rainfall between April 8 and Nov. 22, while Oye and Ido/Osi local governments would also experience stable rainfall within April 7 and Nov. 22.

He said that there would be stable rainfall in Ado Ekiti and Ikole LGs between March 28 and  Nov. 30.

He said stability of rainfall would occur in Ekiti East between April 6 and Nov. 23, while the same thing would happen in Ekiti South West between April 3 and Nov. 25.

The ministry also said that Ijero LG would witness stable rainfall between March 24 and  Nov. 13 and Emure LG would have the longest length of rainfall, which according to him will happen between March 22 and Dec. 5.

Speaking generally on the prediction of Nigeria Meteorological Agency
(NIMET), the commissioner said it was expected that the country would experience a near normal rainfall and that there was possibility of rainfall deficit and rainfall surplus in different parts of the country.

The commissioner said that there would be severe of effect of little dry season over the coast of Lagos, Ijebu Ode, Ibadan, Akure, Shaki, Ilorin and Ado Ekiti.

He advised policymakers, planners and general public to take cognisance of the weather as predicted by Nigeria Metrological Agency in taking decisions.
