The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed the major reason why his memo to President Muhammadu Buhari was leaked to the public.
El-Rufai, a long-standing ally of the president, said he can go in and out of the Presidential Villa at his will despite rumours of a breakdown in the relationship between both men.
Governor El-Rufai made the disclosure while addressing State House correspondents after Juma’at prayers at the Villa Friday afternoon, where he joined Buhari and other top government functionaries in worship.
Also present at the Villa mosque were Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, Defence Minister Mansur Dan-Ali, EFCC chief Ibrahim Magu and Federal Capital Territory Minister Mohammed Musa Bello.
The Kaduna State Governor, who’s been locked in a row with the leadership of the National Assembly over transparency, also said that someone in the Presidency leaked his personal memo to the Media in an apparent attempt to jeopardize his relationship with Buhari.
El-Rufai heated the polity early March when his blistering memo to President Buhari was leaked to the media.
In the memo, the controversial former FCT Minister decried the loss of focus of the Buhari-led administration, blaming the economic recession and increasing political instability on “incompetent advisers” surrounding the president.
