Melaye boasts about disgracing Adoke in N10.2bn libel suit

2 Min Read

Former member of the House of Representatives and the Executive Secretary of the Anti-Corruption, Otunba Dino Melaye has vowed to disgrace the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN) in a libel suit filed by Adoke against Melaye and his NGO before an Abuja High Court.

The Kogi State-born politician also stated that he and his anti-corruption group stand by the allegations they have published against the AGF regarding the abuse of office and fragrant disobedience of court orders.

In a suit number CV/3227/13, Adoke is claiming the sum of N10billion as damages for alleged libel, and N200million as cost of litigation.

However, addressing a press conference yesterday, Melaye said he had not been served the court process. He also stressed that he is ready for the AGF and that he is awaiting service of the court processes before he will know any other action to take.

“We are waiting eagerly to be served and if Adoke did not serve us before the end of today (yesterday), we will approach the court and beg it to avail us with the court process.

“What we have released on Adoke is less that 10 per cent and his going to court, for us, is a welcome development and that will further indict him. We shall confront it when we see the court papers”, Melaye assured.

According to Melaye, what his anti-corruption group published about Adoke was not new.
“We will get Adoke remove his SANship, and by the time we are finished with him, we will go and visit him in Kuje prisons,” he added.
