Meet the Woman Who Inherited Steve Jobs $14 billion Fortune

2 Min Read

When Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs died in 2011, his assets which has grown to an estimated $14.4 billion was transferred down to Laurene Powell Jobs, his wife.

The inheritance however was not the making of Lauren as she’s an accomplished businesswoman, with a generous heart for philanthropic gestures.

According to Wealth-X, Laurene Powell Jobs ranks among the 50 richest people in the world and is carrying on the legacy of her husband in her own way.

Born in West Milford, New Jersey to a teacher and Marine Pilot in 1963, Laurene Powell Jobs double-majored in business and economics at the University of Pennsylvania from where she proceeded to work on Wall Street for Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs. She left Wall Street to further her education, earning an MBA certificate at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business in 1989.

It was during Laurene’s years at Stanford that she met Steve, her late husband who sat briefly beside her during a lecture before getting up to deliver the lecture as the guest speaker.

After the lecture, in the parking lot, Jobs asked Laurene out to dinner, an offer which she accepted and they’ve been together since then up until Jobs death in 2011.

Although a private person, choosing to remain private about her personal life and relationship with her late husband, Laurene Powell Jobs has more vocally discussed her ideas, business Ventures and philanthropic acts over the years and has continued to carry her late husband, Steve Job’s legacy on since his demise.
