The Nigerian Consul-General to Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Ahmed Umar on Sunday announced the burial of the six Nigerian victims of the Mecca crane collapse which killed at least 107 on September 11.
According to Umar, the dead Nigerians were buried in the same cemetery that was designed for that special purpose, where every other victims of the collapse were buried on Friday.
Of the six Nigerians confirmed dead, four were from Gombe State; one was from Katsina and the last from Kaduna. While the four Gombe pilgrims were women, the other two were men from Katsina and Kaduna respectively.
He further said that the monetary compensation promised the families of victims will be duly disbursed to them when released by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Ambassador Umar led the Nigerian delegation that supervised the special arrangements that culminated in the burial of the Nigerian victims after an invitation by Saudi authorities.
