National Chairmanship aspirant, All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff says measures being put in place by Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara to end banditry in the state are yielding positive fruits.
Modu-Sheriff, who is a former Governor of Borno State, stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to Matawalle at the state Government House in Gusau, on Wednesday to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the recent loss of lives and properties arising from the activities of bandits in the state.
“The peace accord and reconciliation process earlier initiated by the governor has made northern states enjoy relative peace.
“The measures taken against all terrorist enclaves will further clear the way for peace and tranquility to reign in the state,” he said.
He informed Matawalle that the vision and tenacity put in place have resulted in the success being recorded in fighting terrorism and the uplift of the people of the state.
Modu-Sheriff also hailed Matawalle for infrastructure development in the state.
“Matawalle has changed the fortunes of Zamfara by transforming the state to an enviable position within a short time.
“Borno and Zamfara share similar security challenges of terrorist attacks,” he said.
Modu-Sheriff prayed to Allah for the deceased persons and to grant their families the fortitude to bear the losses.
He urged the people to pray without ceasing for an end to the menace of banditry and terrorism because the government cannot do it alone.
Responding, Matawalle thanked the former Borno Governor for the visit to Zamfara to commiserate with the people and government of the state.
