Maryam Sanda: Mixed Reactions Trail Death Sentence of Wife Who Stabbed Cheating Husband

4 Min Read

Following the death sentence of Maryam Sanda, who was found guilty of stabbing her husband to death after she found a lady’s nude photos on his phone, internet users have taken to social media to express their view on the unfortunate incident.

While some Nigerians felt genuinely sorry for Maryam being on the receiving end of such sentence, others blamed her for not walking out of an abusive marriage when she still could.

Read the banter on Twitter;

@effodu

If Maryam Sanda was the one killed by her husband, there wouldnt be a death sentence. Of 121 recorded cases from 2014-18 where women were allegedly killed by their husbands, how many men sentenced to death? NONE! ZERO! Our legal Sys is very misogynistic & entrenched in patriarchy

@oil_shaeikh

People getting so emotional about Maryam Sanda’s death sentence, forgetting how she stabbed her husband to death, she took a soul and have to die too, stop bn unnecessarily emotional that you have to flaw judgements. She didn’t kill him by accident. It’s unfortunate but Right!!!

@Capitan27034102

Now let’s have a rethink, Billiyaminu and #MaryamSanda both have kids for each other & as it stands the hubby is dead, it’ll be better if the judgement is life imprisonment rather than death sentence for the sake of the children.

@UNCLE_AJALA

Maryam Sanda sentenced to death for killing her husband Bilyaminu Bello, becos the punishment for killing is death, but Boko Haram members will be caught after killing & destroying properties, Nigeria govt will rehabilitate them & send them back to the society, it makes no sense.

A billion more cases like “maryam sanda” can’t teach me a lesson. You all will never understand her side of the story. women are very patient and if a lady takes an action that’s as drastic as maryam‘s, it could only mean one thing. She’s had it up to her neck!

@DRElMo_ATIKU

Learn to walk out of an abusive marriage or relationship. Do not wait to kill your partner or get killed by your partner. The case of #MaryamSanda that was sentenced to death by hanging for killing her husband should serve as a lesson to all. Marriage is not a do or die affair.

@Zaddy_nomso

Maryam Sanda‘s anger did not only end her husband’s life & get her a death by hanging it also will make her innocent child grow up with no parents. Actions out of Anger are not worth it in the end…

@Al_ameen_Yabo

Imagine growing up jst to find out that your father was killed by your mother and your mother was convicted and sentenced to death by hanging for killing that your father. That is the reality of maryam sanda‘s son. Dont let your heart destroy you and ur future.
