Marcelo Reveals Truth About Potential Ronaldo Link Up At Juventus

2 Min Read

Real Madrid left-back, Marcelo has said he would end his footballing career at the club.

He said this to dispel rumours of a potential link-up with friend, Cristiano Ronaldo, who left Real after nine years to move to Juventus.

The 30-year-old Brazilian, who moved to Madrid from Fluminense in 2007, said he would remain at Spanish capital club until “the very end”, despite reported interest from Juve.

The rumours have continued unabated following Marcelo’s reported strained relationship with new boss, Julen Lopetegui.

The defender was unhappy to have been substituted in Real’s win over Girona and the manager made him train with the reserves.

But he said to Real Madrid TV, “It’s an element which is hardly worth discussing. I’m very happy at Real Madrid, it’s my home and I’ve got many years left on my contract.

“I’m very happy here, it’s the best club in the world and I always want to play for the very best. It’s good to talk about it because there are always rumours and it’s tough for me to have to continually show I want to be here and can play here.

“I always give it my best to be at the best club in the world.

“I just keep doing my job. I have to show what I can do every year. I enjoy every moment of playing for Real Madrid and naturally, I give it everything I’ve got. I do all I can to make sure the fans enjoy the football and that Madrid are always at the top, which is where they belong.”

Since signing for Madrid as a 19-year-old in 2007, Marcelo has won four Champions League and four La Liga titles among many others.

He netted five times in 44 appearances for Los Merengues in the 2017/2018 season.
