Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said that many permanent secretaries in the civil service have outlived their usefulness therefore new appointments must be made.
Wike said this during the swearing in of the new Head of Service of the state, Mr Rufus Godwins, in Port Harcourt.
He said fresh hands are needed in the civil service so as to ensure the success of his administration.
Wike said “So many things have gone wrong in the state civil service which need to be corrected. The new Head of Service now has the job of ensuring that the civil servants key into the mission and vision of the administration.
“Many of the permanent secretaries are supposed to have retired, based on their records of service. These are some of the issues that need to be addressed. The new Head of Service has the mandate to inject fresh blood in the system.”
Wike assured civil servants in Rivers state that his administration will relentlessly pursue Civil servants welfare in exchange for quality service delivery.
