Manchester United has told Real Madrid it will cost them a world record fee of £50m if they want to sign goalkeeper David de Gea, reports CaughtOffside.
Real Madrid are looking for a long-term replacement for captain Iker Casillas and view David de Gea as the right candidate.
On the other hand Manchester United are trying to convince David de Gea to stay at Manchester United by offering the Spaniard a new five-year contract worth £200,000-a-week.
The big factor in David de Gea making a decision rests on the fact that the Spanish international wants to know if Manchester United the 13-time Premier League winners will returned to the Champions League next season.
By that time de Gea will have entered the final year of his contract and Manchester United will probably look to cash-in should the stopper decide he wants to return to his home nation.
If David de Gea does leave for £50m then it will break the record of £32.6m Juventus paid for Gianluigi Buffon back in 2001.
