Manchester United Legend Slams Alexis Sanchez Over Performance

2 Min Read

When Manchester United signed 29-year-old Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, it was believed that the Chilean would light up the Premier League with goals kind of the way another player who moved from the Emirates to the Theatre of Dreams did– Robin Van Persie.

That has not been the case as the hitman has scored only 3 goals in 18 appearances. Meanwhile, while at Arsenal, Sanchez posted 80 in just 165 appearances.

He played in yesterday’s disappointing defeat to Chelsea which meant United ended the season trophyless and left a lot of fans disgruntled.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes feels that the Chilean ‘can’t get any worse’ and that for such a huge wage should be doing a lot better.

Speaking on BT sport after the game, Scholes said; “His performances, well they have to improve. They can’t get any worse to be honest with you.

“I think the first few games of next season are vital to him, he needs to get fans believing again and believing they are going to get close to City. They need a big player.

“Do they [have big players]? Paul Pogba does not win you games on his own. [Eden] Hazard does. Alexis Sanchez doesn’t, he’s shown that since January, they thought he could, but what we’ve seen.

“They need two magical players. I think they’ve got really good players, they haven’t got a Hazard, [Cristiano] Ronaldo, [Lionel] Messi, and I know many teams haven’t, but the difference between the two today was the quality in Hazard, we saw that in big games.

“United don’t have that.”
