Manchester United played out a draw game with arsenal this evening as they seek to solidify their position for European football next season.
An own goal from Manchester United substitute Tyler Blackett cancelled out Ander Herrera’s excellent first-half volley to keep Arsenal in third spot.
Herrera opened the scoring with a smashing strike, meeting Ashley Young’s cross from the left at the far post and before sending a controlled volley beyond David Ospina.
Marouane Fellaini was the dominant force for United in the first half, running the play and preventing Arsenal from getting into their stride.
It took until the second half for the Gunners to manage a shot on target or even a corner, although they were much improved after the break.
The home side looked like holding on, though, until goalkeeper David de Gea had to be replaced by Premier League debutant Victor Valdes with 15 minutes remaining due to a hip injury.
The former Barcelona goalkeeper was soon picking the ball out of his net as Theo Walcott’s cross was deflected over him by fellow substitute Tyler Blackett.
