After an incredible win against local rivals and champions-in-waiting Manchester City, United boss Jose Mourinho is feeling more confident, stating that United deserve more respect than they’ve received in recent times.
“I think we are a bit better than people think,” said Mourinho.
“The players are a bit better than people think and I am a bit better than people think.
“We deserve a bit more respect than people give.”
The win means that City will have to wait till they face Tottenham Hotspur next week to win the title– if they can beat the lily whites that is.
With two straight losses, if Manchester City fall once more to Liverpool on Tuesday in the Champions League return leg, then the Manchester club might be in real trouble.
Mourinho thinks they’ve won the title, however, revealing that he had already congratulated his opposite number on the title win.
“Of course they are frustrated because they wanted to do it today, but I congratulate them for the title because they are going to win and deservedly,” he said.
Guardiola on his part said that City would pick themselves up and that they were ready for Liverpool.
“We will try to pick ourselves up for Liverpool, we are professionals,” he said.
“It is a special day for United, which is a pity. We did absolutely everything in the first half but then for 10-15 minutes we conceded goals. It is what it is, but we move forward.
“We played with courage and created so many chances. Some penalties in the first half, some in the second half, but we have to improve.”
