Manchester City will have the duo of John Stones and Gabriel Jesus fit for matchday 5 after Jesus missed out on the wins at Bournemouth and Brighton and Stones has been missing since sustaining a hamstring on opening day.
Manager Pep Guardiola confirmed both are fit and ready to play at Carrow Road – as is Ilkay Gundogan, who had been struggling with a stomach bug in recent days.
“Stones is good,” said Guardiola. “He trained good. Yeah [he’s in my thoughts for Saturday]. Jesus is back too.
“Gundogan had a stomach problem but he trained good in the last two days.”
A metatarsal problem, followed by successive knee injuries, restricted Mendy to just 15 appearances in the Cityzen’s Fourmidables campaign and he missed City’s tour of Asia in order to focus on regaining his fitness.
Manchester City manager, Guardiola speaks;
“He’s good, he’s training and delighted,” Guardiola said. “Last two weeks, three weeks he’s training and everything is going well.
“Knee’s reacting well so hopefully in the next few games he can be involved.
“With what happened in the last two seasons we want to be careful and be sure when he starts to play. One thing is training, the other is higher competition.”
On Leroy Sane’s injury;
“He’s coming back before the end of the season,” Guardiola said. “In January, December, February could be perfect. He should be perfect.
“He came back two days ago he’s here with us and hopefully he came back well.”
