The Management of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has rewarded and promoted 521 staff members of the organisation for hard work, dedication and performing exceptionally well in their respective duties.

The Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh, told newsmen on Thursday in Enugu that it was part of the company’s commitment to rewarding excellence.

Ezeh said that the recognition, at a critical time when most organisations were struggling to remain afloat, demonstrated the organisation’s belief in staff motivation and welfare.

He said that 54 staff members that were in acting positions had their appointments confirmed, while 408 received step increases and 59 were promoted to the next level.

Ezeh said that in 2017, EEDC adopted the Performance Management System as a means of measuring and evaluating the performance of its staff, in line with their respective Key Performance Indices (KPIs).

“This allowed every staff to be objectively assessed by their supervisors at the end of the appraisal period, based on their KPIs,’’ the EEDC spokesman said.

He said that the management of EEDC, through a memo signed by the Acting Head of Human Resources, Nkiru Chukwuma, congratulated the affected staff and encouraged others to keep putting in their best towards the progress of the organisation.

Recall that in May 2019, a total of 164 staff members were promoted, 178 received step increase, and 1661 had their appointments confirmed.
