Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho has been approached by Inter Milan co-owner, Massimo Moratti, who has invited him to watch a game at the San Siro.
The move is believed to be aimed at convincing Mourinho to take over the managerial role at the club he led to the treble in 2010.
In the absence of a move by Manchester United, which has been heavily linked to the 53-year-old in recent times, Mourinho has gladly accepted the Italian’s invitation to the Nerazzuri’s game against Sampdoria.
Mourinho is a great admirer of Moratti, whose word still carries weight at Inter though he sold 70 per cent stake in the club to Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir in 2013.
If Manchester United do not make a move in the nearest future, it might not be surprising to see Mourinho return to the Italian club.
Many United fans cannot wait to see the end of Louis van Gaal’s reign, with Thursday’s loss to Danish side Midtjylland compounding what is an already abysmal season.
