Ibrahim Oniyide, 30, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his own mother to death.

The incident happened at 3, Olubunmi Christopher Drive, off Arowolo Street, Abule Egba area of Lagos State.

Ibrahim has since been remanded in prison following his offence.

Appearing in court, the prosecution counsel, Sergeant Maria Dauda explained to the court that arrested Ibrahim killed his mother identified as Tawa Oniyide, by stabbing her repeatedly with a kitchen knife because the deceased mother refused to accept his 8 months pregnant future wife.

“The suspect on the fateful day had gone to introduce a woman to his mother as his future wife, demanding that she accommodate her.

“The deceased disagreed with her son on the issue, refusing to accept the eight months old pregnant woman into her house.

“She said she was not interested in her and that her son should have brought the woman when the pregnancy was still in the early stage.

“Ibrahim, who thought that his mother was wrong and should have accepted the pregnant woman, got angry.

“The deceased was in the kitchen with a knife and yam which she was preparing to cook when.the suspect allegedly grabbed the knife and stabbed her in different parts of her body, making sure that she was dead,” the prosecutor said.

In his plea, Ibrahim however pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Miss M.O. Okpe Agbe, at the Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court following the plea ordered that the case be adjourn till April 11 and the accused be remanded in the Ikoyi Prisons, pending advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, DPP.
