A man has been arraigned on a one-count charge of murder for stabbing his friend to death because of an argument over the taste of noodles.
Oluwaseun Ojo, 25, was arraigned before an Akure Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for stabbing his friend Shola Omotayo.
Ojo who is a resident of 10, Familusi Gaga Area of Oke-Aro in Akure, according to the prosecutor, ASP Pelumi Adejuwon, committed the act while the victim lived with him in the same room.
ASP Adejuwon while testifying before the court said the suspect committed the offence on September 30 at their residence, while the duo were arguing over the taste of noodles cooked by the deceased.
He said the suspect stabbed the victim with a broken bottle on his chest and back, which he said led to the victim’s death.
Adejuwon said the action contravened Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The Magistrate Mr Sunday Adedapo said the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case and ordered the suspect remanded in prison pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, before adjourning the case to November 26, 2015.
