A man from Uganda carrying a package containing the severed head of a young child has been apprehended at the gate of the Uganda parliament.
The man, identified as Joseph Nuwashaba, 22, is being held in custody by the country’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
It remains unclear what he intended to do with the parcel or where and how he acquired the head found in his possession.
A CID source said that a child was reported missing in Masaka, south-west of the capital, Kampala, on Sunday.
An abandoned headless body has also been discovered in that district.
Officials carrying out Investigations on the incident are working to find out whether it may be related to the head that Mr Nuwashaba was carrying when he was detained, reports the media Kampala, Uganda.
In the 1990s and early 2000s, Uganda experienced a wave of kidnappings and killings of children. Their body parts were believed to have been used for ritual purposes.
Agencies and security officials are working together to place measures in order to mitigate the occurrence of such incidents.
