An American man was on Thursday sentenced to more than four years in prison after he pleaded guilty to animal abuse and drug charges, Associated Press reported.
The 25-year-old Rudy Espinoza, from Salem, Oregon, was arrested in June by police after his neighbours called 911.
Reports said Espinoza’s mum had arrived home from work on June 24 and he tried to carry on a conversation with her.
She reportedly told him to wait till she had fed her crying cat, a suggestion which apparently infuriated him.
Officials said he then attacked the cat, causing his mum to flee.
When police arrived, Espinoza was covered in blood, scratches and bite marks, Statesman Journal reported.
When questioned, the man told police he killed the cat because it was “evil and nosy”.
When a search warrant was obtained, police said they found the drug called Ecstasy in his house, which led to the drug charge.
