The Ogun state police command, have arrested a 63-year-old man, Korede Odubela, who connived with his son to kill his step-daughter, Amudat Oshimodi for ritual purposes.
Korede allegedly sold the 16-year-old step daughter’s head to his son, Lekan, who agreed to make an installmental payment, to which he paid N3,000 as his first payment.
During interrogations, the suspect confessed to the crime, claiming the deceased’s mother had asked him to kill their daughter because she always stole her money.
He said, “It is true that Lekan Lawal and I connived to kill my step-daughter. The girl was 16 years old. She was always stealing her mother’s money. And the mother said we should kill her as a sacrifice for the other children she had. Since she normally slept at the door post outside, at 12 midnight, I invited Lekan Lawal. He held the girl by the neck and strangled her while I held her legs. That was how she died.”
However, the mother of the deceased, when interrogated, denied the allegation, and lamented over the loss of her daughter.
According to her, she had five children from her previous marriage before moving on to marry Odubela.
The woman stated that her daughter’s attitude was dissatisfactory, but she never instructed anyone to murder her because she only wanted her corrected and not killed.
The police have said both men will remain in custody and will be subsequently be charged to court.
