A Nigerian, Wasiu Alowonle, standing trial for theft of Iron rods worth N40,000 died yesterday after jumping out of the window on the court premises
He was arraigned by the Police before Magistrate O. I. Raji of the Ogba Magistrate’s Court, Ogba, Lagos, on a count charge of stealing, but pleaded not guilty to the accusation.
It was reported that while his bail conditions were to be perfected, the accused decided to escape through the window, he was said to have landed badly on the floor.
The accused who had been incarcerated in Kirikiri Prisons was already looking pale and frustrated when he was brought in by the Prison warders for trial.
His remains were evacuated by officials of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA.
