A man in the United States has jumped to his death while trying to escape burglars who were trying to break into his home.
Jose Greer, 51, jumped Tuesday night from the third-floor balcony of his apartment located in Atlanta, Georgia, local police said.
According to Atlanta police Major Adam Lee III, when Greer hit the sidewalk, he still summoned enough strength to call police despite his serious injuries.
The man was later moved to the hospital, where he died on Wednesday of injuries sustained.
Police say three young men could be seen on surveillance camera entering and leaving the complex where Greer lived.
While it appeared the victim’s home was ransacked, valuables such as televisions and computers were found nearby, not carted away.
The police said they were treating the case as homicide and have posted a $25,000 reward for any information that can lead to the arrest of the suspected burglars.
