The Police on Monday arraigned a 33-year-old man, Love Ita, in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged sexual assault on two sisters.
The accused, a furniture maker, who resides at 3, Jafojo St., Iyana Ipaja, suburb of Lagos is tried for sexual assault.
The prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offence was committed in Dec. 2017 at the accused residence.
Ogu said that the complainant, Mrs Florence Okon, had left her two daughters, 4 and 6 years in the care of her brother in-law to further her education.
The prosecutor added that when the mother of the girls returned, the six-year-old daughter informed her that the accused used to finger her private part and that of her sister.
According to the prosecutor, the complainant checked the kids private parts and discovered scars all over.
Ogu added that the mother reported the case to the police and the accused was promptly arrested.
The offence contravened Section 135(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted the accused bail of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Akanni adjourned the case till March 26, for mention. (NAN)
