A 58-year-old man has been charged to court in South Africa after 21 different female vaginas were found in a fridge in his house.
Peter Frederiksen allegedly lured women to his Bloemfontein home, sedated them and performed illegal surgical operations on them without their permission.
According to local police, he was said to be wanted for gun-running charges in his native country of Denmark.
Frederiksen, who owns a gun shop in South Africa, has been charged with sexual assault, intimidation and domestic violence, but it is not yet clear if the operations were performed on the victims while they were dead or alive or if the 21 different vaginas were from different women.
In addition to the body parts, police also confiscated surgical equipment, anaesthetic and a large collection of photographs.
Warrant Officer Lynda Steyn said: “It comes down to mutilation of private parts of a woman, cut out and kept as trophies.
“He’s been doing it for a long time because one the genitals were marked with a lady’s name, the place Lesotho written on it, as well as the year 2010,” Huffington Post reported.
Police said Frederiksen’s wife, who is from neighbouring Lesotho, alerted them to the illegal storage of female body parts in their home by her husband.
Frederiksen’s wife is also being investigated to determine the extent of her involvement.
Police have called on any woman who may have been a victim to come forward with their story.
He is expected to appear in court tomorrow, Monday, for hearing and taking of his plea.
