The police have arraigned 19-year-old Kalifa Salisu, in a Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, over alleged joint act, theft and causing public nuisance.
Salisu of no fixed address, however, denied committing the alleged offences.
The prosecutor, Adeyemi Oyeyemi, told the court that one Abbas Saidu, of Garki village Abuja, reported the matter at the Wuse Zone 3 Police Station Abuja on Oct. 6.
The prosecutor said the complainant reported on that same date, that on his way from Energy Commission Central Area, to National Mosque, Abuja, the defendants and six others attacked him.
The prosecutor alleged that defendant and six of his friends, now at large, attacked the complainant with a knife, stole his Techno cell phone valued at N8,000 and N2,700 cash.
Oyeyemi said during police investigation the knife and phone were recovered from him, while the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 79, 183 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The Magistrate, Aishatu Ibrahim, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Oct. 31, for hearing. (NAN)
