A 35-year-old man, Eniodunmo Monsuru, on Wednesday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court for allegedly biting another man on the lips.
Monsuru, who resides at No. 13 Adeyemi Street, Iyana-Ilogbo, Ota, was on a one-count charge of assault.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb.13 about 8 p. m. at Igbala Bus-stop, Ota.
Mustapha said that the defendant unlawfully assaulted, Segun Durowaye, the complainant by biting him on his lip.
He said the offence contravened Section 338 of the Criminal Code Vol.1, Revised Law of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Funke Odubanjo, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Odubanjo said that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and should be gainfully employed.
She also ordered that the defendant should swear to an affidavit of means and also produce one year tax clearance payment to Ogun government
In addition, the surety should submit four recent passport photographs to the court and his address should be verified by the police.
She adjourned the case till March 22 for hearing. (NAN)
