A father, Abubakar Finder has been dragged to a Sharia Court at Magajin Gari Kaduna by his ex-wife, Amina, accusing him of abandoning his six children since their separation.
The complainant told the court that in the four years since their separation, Finder had failed cater for the needs of the six children in terms of feeding.
“We have two boys and four girls before he divorced me, the two boys are working and can feed themselves while the four girls depend on me.
“It is so bad that my children couldn’t take anything for Suhur today to start the fasting,” she told the court.
The defendant however denied the allegations, accusing the woman of being “ungrateful,”
According to him, even though he has no job, he usually seek for loan from friends and relatives to send food items to his ex-wife for the feeding of the children, and sometimes even gave them money.
The judge Malam Dahiru Lawal, after listening to both parties, ordered the defendant to take proper care of his children, prevent them from going wayward.
He directed the woman and her ex-husband to agree as to how much the defendant would be sending monthly as upkeep allowance for the children.
Lawal also cautioned the ex-couple to void anything that would embarrass their children and expose them to ridule. (NAN)
