A 49-year-old man, Bannet Ahator, who allegedly broke into a school and stole property valued at N327,800, was on Friday arraigned in a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Ipaye Nwachukwu, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
According to the prosecutor, Sgt. Anthonia Osayande, the defendant and others now at large, committed the offences on Dec. 1 at Canadian International School, Eric Moore Road, Lagos.
She alleged that the defendant and others still at large, entered the classrooms of the school and stole three pieces of 32 inches LG television valued at N92,600 each ,two LG DVD player, valued at N25,000 each.
Osayande told the court that the defendant was apprehended by the police with the items.
The offences contravened Sections 285(1), 308 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
The case was adjourned till Jan.19 for mention. (NAN)
