Man Dies On A Flight After Biting Another Passenger

A 24-year-old man aboard an Aer Lingus flight died after he was restrained by aircraft crew for biting a fellow passenger.

The man who was a Brazilian national was flying from Lisbon, Portugal to Dublin, Republic of Ireland when the incident occurred.

He allegedly bit a fellow passenger sitting next to him, which caused him to be restrained by the crew, as a result of which he lost consciousness.

Efforts to revive the unconscious man by a doctor and nurse who were on board proved futile as he was confirmed dead on arrival by paramedics.

The aircraft pilot was said to have diverted the flight to Cork, about 160 miles from Dublin hoping that the victim’s if could be saved.

However, a 44-year-old Portuguese travel companion of the victim was arrested for being in possession of five pounds of a powder suspected to be amphetamine.

A post mortem ordered to determine the cause of the man’s death is expected to be completed today.
