Man detained after girlfriend dies of stomach pain in Lagos

2 Min Read

A man, Funso Amosu, has been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lagos after his live-in girlfriend, Udochi, died from stomach ache.

The incident occurred in their rented apartment at Abraham Adesanya Estate, in the Ogombo area of Ajah.

Amosu reported the incident at Ogombo Police Division and was detained on July 18.

He told police detectives that on July 17, Udochi returned from work around 7:20 pm and told him she was having stomach pains.

He said that this compelled her to start frequenting the toilet, after which she told him to help her get food.

Amosu said she later slept off only for her to wake up at midnight and start to vomit.

He said she was rushed to a hospital in the Sangotedo area at 8 am on July 18 for treatment, but she died the same day.

The Herald learnt that Udochi’s remains were brought back home and Amosu lodged a report at the Ogombo Police Division.

One Inspector Lawrence Inaede was said to have visited the scene of the incident and reported that no mark of violence was found on the late Udochi’s body.

Police detectives then took photographs of the corpse before depositing it at the Mainland Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy.
