A court has sentenced a man, Stephen Ngila, to 30 years in jail for chopping off his wife’s hands because she did not give him a child.
Senior Resident Magistrate Brenda Bartoo delivered the judgement on Tuesday.
This is just as the court in Machakos, Machakos County in Kenya condemned the convict for showing no remorse for the 2016 incident.
Prosecutors had arraigned Ngila, 39, on charges of attempted murder for chopping off his wife, Jackline Mwende’s hands with a machete for failing to bear him a child.
Prosecutors also told the court that several fertility tests showed that the convict was the one who had reproductive health issues.
The convict has 14 days to appeal the judgement.
