Manchester City thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium to improve their chances of winning the EPL title.
The Pep Guardiola-tutored side triumphed courtesy of a brace by Raheem Sterling and a goal each from Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne, with Christian Eriksen scoring Tottenham’s consolation in the dying minutes of the game.
Substitute Gabriel Jesus missed a penalty that could have taken the game to 5-1 in favour of City, after Spurs captain Jan Vertonghen clumsily brought down his international teammate De Bruyne in the penalty box.
With the win, City open up a 14-point lead over second-placed Manchester United, who travel to struggling West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.
