Man City chasing PSG superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic

2 Min Read
Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Manchester City are set to make a cut-price £17m offer for PSG’s Swedish sensation Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to the Daily Mirror.

The volatile striker is reportedly upset by PSG’s £54m pursuit of Napoli’s Edinson Cavani, and speculation is mounting that Ibrahimovic wont turn up to his first day of training next Thursday.

Controversy has surrounded the outspoken striker throughout his career, but his ability has never been doubted.

New City boss Manuel Pellegrini is desperately looking to bolster his striking options, after both Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez were shipped out to Italy in 2013.

Pellegrini has earmarked Ibrahimovic as the perfect solution to his striking conundrum. He would join Fernandinho and Jesus Navas at the Etihad stadium next year in City’s quest to wrestle the Premier League title from the red half of Manchester.

If a move were to materialise, Sergio Aguero would likely have to drop deeper to accommodate Ibrahimovic. The Argentine is comfortable playing in a deeper attacking role, and the combination of the two would surely cause countless problems for Premier League defences.

Amazingly, Ibrahimovic has won a league title in 10 of the last 12 seasons he has played in European football for various clubs. The Swede scored 35 times last term for PSG, which equals the most goals he has ever scored in a season, suggesting that despite his advancing years, Ibrahimovic is very much still a world-class performer.

The PSG man has accumulated roughly £124m in combined transfer fees throughout his career, which is the highest of any footballer in history. Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan and PSG have all spent over £20m on the powerful Swede.

If City were to do the same, here’s how they could line up next season:
