It was learnt that this incensed the residents, who descended on the suspect and would have lynched him but for the intervention of operatives of the Amotekun Corps in the state who were tipped off about the incident.
In a recorded video, the suspect said he was set up by a certain individual but his explanations fell on deaf ears as residents beat him mercilessly.
However, the Amotekun operatives succeeded in whisking him to the safety of their office in Telemu.
Chairman, Ola-Oluwa Southeast LCDA, Sunday Olaifa confirmed the incident.
He called on law enforcement agencies to get to the root of the matter.
According to him, the suspect has been taken to Osogbo to prevent residents from lynching him in the area.
“It is true the man was caught with body parts, but we demand that the case be diligently investigated as the suspect claimed he was set up by his “supposed” son-in-law, hence, the matter should be properly investigated,” Olaifa said.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Yemisi Opalola said the police have been informed and have commenced investigation into the matter.
