A Kenyan man has been arrested by Kabuchai Constituency Police in Bungoma County, Kenya, after he was caught trying to bury his mother alive.
The man, Chris Wamalwa, 40, who has since been remanded in police custody was reported to have been stopped from burying his mother alive by people who were passing by.
According to report, people who were passing by heard the screams of a woman and rushed to her aid only to find out that it was her son struggling to put her in the ground.
The accused man was reported to have dug the pit latrine to accommodate fot his mother’s body.
The victim, Ms Beatrice Nasaka, while narrating her experience in her son’s hands said he had forced her to allocate him a land which she already sold.
She said: “I am a widow and my only property will save me from poverty.
I had sold a piece of plot so that I can use the money for my personal needs and when my son heard of the sale, he rushed to my home and demanded for a share. He attempted to bury me after he failed to get what he wanted.”
A village elder, Ronald Umbu, revealed that the suspect has been taken to the Nalondo police camp.
